Dates

Mark your calendars—this is a 48-hour sprint. You must be present at the ASC Second Floor for check-in on both days.

  • Day 1 (Feb 28): Attendee check-in and team sign-up (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM), followed by the Opening Ceremony and theme reveal (11:00 AM – 12:30 PM).
  • Day 2 (March 1): Day 2 check-in and debrief (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM), plus a submission briefing to help you get your project onto Devpost.
  • The Deadline: All projects must be submitted via Devpost by 11:59 PM on March 1.

Eligibility

  • Teams: You can compete in teams of up to five members. Individual "solo" creators are also welcome.
  • Team Building: If you don't have a team, we can help assign you to one on the first day of the event.
  • Presence: To remain eligible, you must check in at the venue on both days of the competition.

Project and Submission Requirements

  • The 5-Minute Rule: All submissions must be consumable within 5 minutes.
    • Temporal Media (video, music): Must not exceed 5 minutes in length.
    • Non-Temporal Media (websites, art, stories): Must be designed so judges can evaluate them within a 5-minute window.
  • Original Work: All core creative work must be "jammed" during the 48-hour window. Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Tools: You are responsible for your own hardware and software. We recommend borrowing gear from UBC resources like the Chapman Learning Commons or UBC Studios.
  • Submission Format: You must provide a link to your project on Devpost before the deadline.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Judging is conducted asynchronously by a panel of professors in the two weeks following the event—there are no live presentations.
